Week 32-2026 | Brief News

Review Week 32 - 2025 Today's Week Today's Week

Week 32 - 2026 | From Aug. 03 to Aug. 09, 2026

One thing to watch closely Monday:

Bullish factors

Strong earnings growth has continued to support the market, even though reactions have been mixed across sectors. Overall, corporate profits remain stronger than many analysts expected.

The S&P 500 finished last week with a gain of about 1%, showing buyers are still stepping in after pullbacks.

The longer-term trend remains positive, with most major Wall Street firms still forecasting higher index levels later in 2026, driven by earnings growth.

Bearish factors

Several events could create significant swings:

Friday's U.S. employment report (Nonfarm Payrolls) is the most important economic release. A much stronger-than-expected report could increase expectations that the Federal Reserve will keep interest rates higher for longer.

Treasury yields have been rising, which puts pressure on high-valuation technology stocks.

Major earnings reports from companies including AMD, Eli Lilly, Palantir and others could move both the technology and healthcare sectors.

Geopolitical tensions, particularly involving Iran and energy markets, remain a source of uncertainty.

Geopolitical Risks

The geopolitical risk level for next week is elevated. My overall assessment is:

Risk level: 7.5/10 (High)

The main areas to watch are:

Middle East (Highest Risk) – 9/10

The conflict involving Iran remains the biggest geopolitical threat to global markets.
Any escalation affecting the Strait of Hormuz or regional energy infrastructure could push oil prices higher and increase market volatility.

Energy markets and shipping routes remain especially vulnerable.

Russia–Ukraine – 8/10
Continued military operations remain a risk to European energy, food exports, and investor confidence.

Any attacks on critical infrastructure or changes in Western military support could move European markets and defense stocks.
